The Sahaj Path is a child’s reader written by Rabindranath Tagore and illustrated by the famed Bengali artist Nandalal Bose. It has been the foundation of Bengali studies for generations. The Sahaj Path Readers differ from other existing texts on language. Instead of an emphasis on grammar and spelling, the sounds of syllables were personified within a rhyming verse composed by Tagore. The accompanying linocuts by Nandalal, were sketched from the daily life of the child.
